Anyone know how Yahoo baseball works?

Postby RynMan » Wed Feb 04, 2004 5:49 am

Was just wondering if anyone knows which offensive categories are counted in Yahoo fantasy baseball (rotisserie league) and which pitching stats are counted?

basic offensive stats are
average, hrs, sbs,rbis, and runs
and pitching stats are
strike outs, wins, era, whip, and saves

thus most prefer to give the name basic 5x5 league settings.

I know how it works: not very well!!!
Baseball is a game where a curve is an optical illusion, a screwball can be a pitch or a person, stealing is legal and you can spit anywhere you like except in the umpire's eye or on the ball. ~Jim Murray

That's the first time I have heard someone talk bad about Yahoo! fantasy baseball. In my POV, it's the best place to hold a free fantasy league out there on the web.

It's ok for free, but I don't play that way! In my mind there is no point in playing fantasy baseball just for pride! There'd better be a monetary prize involved!!

That's right for the public league settings. ;-D

If you do a private league, then you can customize the scoring catagories.

Yeah there is a $20 entry fee, and whoever wins takes the lot. We have about 12 guys intertested so far.

Can anyone explain the difference between Rotisserie league and fantasy points league? i cant see the difference!

Roto leagues count up the scoring catagories for the entire year and gives the points to where you finish in each one.

Fantasy points gives points for each thing. For example:

single=1 point
double=2 points
triple=3 points
HR=4 points

You get points for all kinds of things. Whatever you set it up to do. You can also lose points for things like hitter k's and losses for pitchers.

Usually in a point league there's a way to manipulate the scoring. It doesn't take catagories into account, just whoever has the most points wins.

Roto is the way to go. ;-D
