I have both in an auction league, looking to move one or the other, as part of a package, for top talent......currently in a dead heat for the top three spots (money league) Who has the higher upside, and better short term gain, of helping me this season, in essence move the other guy.
Lincecum $2 (two years left at that salary) Bailey $3 (two years left at that salary)
I think Lincecum playing in a more pitcher-friendly stadium and his ability to adjust quickly from level to level suggests that he has the upperhand in the short term as well as the long term. Bailey is a great talent, but fantasy-wise I think its safe to say Lincecum is much more intriguing.
I would go the other way and choose Homer. I think Lincecum will be better early on, but as Homer develops a little more control he will pass Lincecum. I dont know if you can go wrong with either one though. If I had to make a choice I would hang onto Bailey. The $1 on the contract isnt really going to matter for the next two seasons.
Yes, it was for a pulled groin, and the Minor League DL is only 8 days - so he basically just skipped a start. I think that injury risk is moderately high for both pitchers. But i wouldnt put either of them in Rich Harden territory.
