I like that. I wish more people were henotheists; we might have less problems in the world :-/

Fewer problems. Sorry but that's one of my pet peeves, people mixing up less and fewer. Can I be any more annoying? !+)

sar·don·ic /sɑrˈdɒnɪk/ Pronunciation[sahr-don-ik]

Here's a fairly well-known one:

A few years after the death of Julius Caesar, the chieften of Mauritania (in NW Africa) went exploring. He was looking for the "Islands of the Blest," a group of idyllic islands said to be past the Pillars of Hercules (Rock of Gibralter) and that were said to have the perfect weather and abundant food.

He found a group of islands that was populated by large dogs. He names the islands "The Island of Dogs:" Canaria. This name was kept by later explorers, transmutating into "The Canary Islands." Eventually, the dogs on the islands went extinct and another animal that flourished there, the songbird, was domesticated and imported to all of Europe.

That's where canaries come from.
