Which Minor Leaguer to Add?

Postby crcbsjh » Fri May 11, 2007 8:30 am

I'm in a 12-team, AL-only, 4x4 (Avg, HR, RBI, net SB x W, Sv, ERA, WHIP) keeper league with the following starting rosters (my players):

2 C (Hernandez-Bal, VMart-Cle)
1B (Morneau-Min)
3B (Gordon-KC)
Corner (Phelps-NY)
2B (Vidro-Sea)
SS (Young-Tex)
Middle (Pena-KC)
5 OF (Matsui-NY, Markakis-Bal, Kubel-Min, Matthews-LA, Buck-Oak)
DH (Ortiz-Bos)
9 P (Verlander-Det, Halladay-Tor, Hughes-NY, Sowers-Cle, Bonser-Min, Guerrier-Min, Reyes-TB, Aardsma-Chi, Perkins-Min)

* I have the following players DL'd: OF Rivera-LA, P Speier-LA, P Dotel-KC

Option to stash 3 minor league players (cannot have any MLB experience; Andrew Miller doesn't qualify for example).

* I pulled Hughes off my minor league roster, leaving 1B Barton-Oak, and P Hochevar-KC in my minor leagues with 1 slot open.

The following players are rostered in the minors:

P Sanchez-NY
OF Ellsbury-Bos
P Niemann-TB
3B Fields-Chi
P Slowey-Min
P Miller-Cle
OF Jones-Sea
3B Longoria-TB
P Sonnanstine-TB
OF Maybin-Det
P Sipp-Cle

Among the following available minor leaguers, which would you recommend (or add any that I have omitted)?

SS Brignac-TB
OF Tabata-NY
P Adenhart-LA
P Buchholz-Bos
OF Snider-Tor
P Lofgren-Cle
3B Rowell-Bal

There are some pretty good choices, but Brignac could be very special at the SS position. He would be my choice.

Brignac, Buccholz, Adenhart. In that order. Those will be the most immediate impact players. I would look into to scooping up Tabata and Rowell next year, B-)

I'd take Brignac easy, Clay would be my 2nd choice.

I'd ditch Hochevar for Clay.....Barton for Briggy

Briggy is a good option but I think Snider has a much offensive upside as anyone in the minors. If you're willing to wait 2 years, go with Snider.
