Terry Adams and done

With the signing of Terry Adams JP says that his shopping is finished - bring on spring training.

Overall I give JP's offseason a B+.

I think that Batista is the best we can afford at SP and he will be better than expected. Together with some shrewd inexpensive tinkering in the bullpen, our pitching staff looks much-improved (but we say that before every season don't we?).

I am glad that he did not sign Aurilia - that would have thrown our payroll out of whack and I don't think that he would have contributed much. I am also glad that he did not find any takers for Hudson who will improve this year. Phelps and Hinske will have healthy productive years and our hitting will be as good as last year, maybe a little better because I expect that our young hitters will be more consistent.

It looks like third place for us again but keeping ahead of the Os will be a victory. I will enjoy watching this good young core of players further develop this year and I expect them to get a wild card next year.

I agree that the Jays made some good moves this year. Mostly in the bullpen which is where they had lots of struggles last year. I forsee Speier taking the closer role and running with it.

Unfortunately, they are in an extremely tough division. We'll see what happens though.

I wanted Batista for my Rangers dag nabbit! :~(

The Jays have definately made some solid moves in the off season...Bautista, Speier and Adams....all good moves....Should be fun to watch the AL East this year....Them and the O's could make things interesting..... :-)
