Angels rename ballpark to Angel Stadium of Anaheim
December 29, 2003
ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) - The Anaheim Angels have renamed their 37-year-old ballpark to Angel Stadium of Anaheim, the team announced Monday.
The Angels made the change following a recent decision by Edison International to exercise its option to pull out of its 1998 naming rights agreement.
"We appreciate the working relationship we have shared with Edison International," Angels president Dennis Kuhl said. "We anticipate a continuing relationship in the future."
The facility opened in 1966 and was known as Anaheim Stadium through the 1997 season.
A series of renovations began in 1996 to revert the stadium back to a baseball-only facility and on September 15, 1997, it was renamed Edison International Field of Anaheim.

Reminds me of the Ballpark in Arlington. Neither name is very appealing.
