My 1 and only team..whatcha think?

Postby TexasStampede » Tue Mar 20, 2007 12:56 pm

Alright guys so I was hoping to get some feedback on my one and only annual fantasy baseball team. Just had the draft last night. Its a 12 team, H2H format with the following categories: R, H, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, AVG, IP, W, L, CG, SV, K, ERA, WHIP. We keep 5, so the first 5 picks were holdovers.

Texas Stampede
1. (9) Carl Crawford
2. (16) Joe Mauer
3. (33) Brandon Webb
4. (40) John Lackey
5. (57) Brett Myers
6. (64) Jeremy Bonderman
7. (81) Rickie Weeks
8. (88) Dan Haren
9. (105) Nick Markakis
10. (112) Howie Kendrick
11. (129) Scott Olsen
12. (136) José Valverde
13. (153) Joe Crede
14. (160) Jeff Francoeur
15. (177) Kei Igawa
16. (184) Brandon McCarthy
17. (201) Lyle Overbay
18. (208) Chuck James
19. (225) James Shields
20. (232) Khalil Greene
21. (249) Joe Borowski
22. (256) Gil Meche
23. (273) Carlos Quentin

Following the draft I did make one trade: Shipped Mauer and Lackey away for McCann and Teixeira.

Thus here's how the lineup looks:

C-Brian McCann
1B-Mark Tiexiera
2B-Ricky Weeks
SS-Khali Greene
3B-Joe Crede
UT-Howie Kendrick
OF-Carl Crawford
OF-Nick Markakis
OF-Jeff Francoeur
bench: Carlos Quentin and Lyle Overbay

SP-Brandon Webb
SP-Jeremy Bonderman
SP-Dan Haren
SP-Brett Myers
SP-Scott Olsen
SP-Kei Igawa
SP-Brandon McCarthy
SP-Gil Meche
SP-Chuck James
SP-James Shields
RP-Jose Valverde
RP-Joe Borowski

Let me know what you think...

I think your team is ok, your pitching is your strength and if you hadn't gotten Teixeira you'd really be struggling for a bat. It's not a bad team, but one more bat could help a lot. ... p?t=259858

You've got a nice pitching staff and Tex and Crawford will be big for your offense but you have to try and get another bat in there. You have to many question marks on offense. It's a good team, but it is better served with another bat in there.

I'd probably try and acquire another bat by packaging Bonderman or Myers with somebody else for a trade; I'd try upgrading at SS because you can do a lot better than Khalil Greene in a 12-teamer. Other than that your offense looks pretty sound -- again, one more bat would make it that much better. ... p?t=259736

Tough keeping 3 pitchers but since you did, you could have waited on taking Haren and Bonderman and filled up your offense. Your CI are hurting so you need to trade pitching for a 3B. Also, where are your saves going to come from? Great pick of Quentin at the end. He'll be better right after opening day. I'd focus on getting a power hitter and saves. ... p?t=260138
