A-Rod is a clear choice to be the number one draft pick in a one-year league because of his established reign as the number one SS and the way his bat compares to other offensive studs.

However, if you are talking about a keeper league, taking Pujols earlier in a snake draft of for more money in an auction could easily be debated.

Another option that's definitely worth considering this year is trading down...

With all the great choices this year, a #1 or #2 pick isn't worth as much as it usually is. ;-)

Trading down can score you a better player in rounds 2 and 3 while losing very little on the 1st round pick. :-)
