Keeper strategy

transplanted from the Keeper/trade forum:

I'm looking for some general advice so I can think about my keepers in the right way. This is year 2 of a keeper league, so it's my first time thinking about it under these rules: It costs you the draft pick from last year's draft for each of the players you keep. Johan costs you your #1 pick, and Hanley costs that guy his 25th round pick (true pick from last year--no, not mine unfortunately).

So, should I look to maximize the difference between the projected round a player will be drafted vs. where he was drafted last year, or just go with the best players regardless of what pick it costs me. Thanks, and let me know if you have a question.

I think you keep value in mind, but overall you still go with the best players. Unless you have two players that are close, but the lesser of the two is young/ the better is towards the twillight of his career.
