I think that all of this is funny. Yes. Some do get out of hand but just because I am a fan of the team, don't start harassing me because of my allegiances. IMHO, this e-mail is funny. If the Sox won and there was another from the other end in the same nature, I would also find it funny. Especially now, since we are almost 2 months after the fact.

The poking isn't the issue. Any vitrol is often within posts about relevant topics; few post solely to trash one team.

My point is this: There's a lot to legitimately discuss, and this stuff is better suited to fan or SoSH--than here. We like to keep this board--at least this forum in particular for better discussions.

(Admittedly, though, the idea--very much espoused by NYY fans--that because we lose a lot that Sox fans wish they were Yankee fans--drives me absolutely insane, just as the idea that we like losing. Just like parents, you just don't understand.)

For legitimate discussions, how about this Herald nugget:

The Red Sox, Larry Lucchino especially, may like to point to the Yankees as the ultimate, dangerous free-market machine. But the personality during the brief Henry Era has been to collect stars not necessarily through barter, but by simply crushing the rest of the field with greater financial resources. It is, of course, very much a Yankee way of doing business.…

If the Yankees are indeed the Evil Empire, then the Red Sox are its Evil Twin. It is no coincidence that most of the individuals above were targeted by both teams
I'm back. Sorta.

Do not boo Johnny.
