I guess 58 home runs doesn't pay out like it used to.

Players with no track record dont get paid, its too bad. If only it were like the NBA howard would be getting $200M over 10 years.

No, I understand. I just think it's funny that the reigning NL MVP is making less than $1 million.

The amount ball clubs pay trash relievers these days it wouldn't hurt to toss his $3m or so, may go a long way to securing his services past 2011.

If I was Howard I'd be pi$$ed as if Thome wasn't there he may have been eligible for arbitration before his 26th birthday and he could be made for life by now.

And to think he is still 5 years away from FA eligibility. Maybe 4 since he supposedly becomes Super-2 next year but I don't really know much about that. If I was the Phillies I would have went and bought up the entire arb years plus 1 or 2 FA years. The Phillies are going to get hammered in arbitration next year.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
