Cannot seem to find anything on the fast starters who tail off and the slow starter who finish strong. Anyone got anything I can use? This info is the most important in my gameplan becuase all kind of wonderful trades in April and May can make you a champ come September.

I think that there have been studies of this that have shown that it is mostly due to matchups more than an actual tendency of the players resulting in a skill adjustment at a certain time of the year.

When I have looked at this, I usually just use Yahoo's split stats for the player in question, although that is cumbersome for large scale 'hunting'

Yeh, I was checking out Piazza on Yahoo and noticed for the last several years that his Aprils blow. Yahoo split stats are great but you are right, to look thorugh a lot of players would be like a part time job.

Vernon Wells and Chavez have a history of being slow starters...

Beltre has a rep around the cafe of being a strong second half player.

Yeh, Huff is always on my post All Star buy low list. Last year was not very good but I think it was the new environment.

Seems like Dontrell Willis usually starts off slow.
Injuries can also cause slow starts that end with good finishes. Colon could be an example of this for this season. Also Clemens, obviously. Huff is the poster child though. Jeter tends to heat up as the playoff approach.
