Northern Virginia's bid for the Expos sustained yet another setback on Election Day, as Arlington voters overwhelmingly re-elected two members of the County Board who had withdrawn Arlington as a potential site for Virginia's new ballpark.
As previously noted, county governments now oppose four of the five proposed sites for a Virginia baseball stadium. The fifth, near Dulles Airport, is too far from downtown.
The bitter whining on the Virginians for Baseball message boards notwithstanding, "losing" the Expos to Washington would amount to saving $300 million in return for having to travel three or four miles farther to attend a major league game. Talk about a fight not worth winning...
