So I just paid Tmobile 599 a month for unlimited T-Zones access...Luckily for me I have a smartphone and set it up to allow me to bypass it with a proxy and listen to satellite radio and surf the net unlimited ;-D

Well yeah, assuming it does what they say they do... that's part of the fun of electronics.

Yes but how can you pass judgement on not one but two pieces of equipment that are not even out yet? Just seems silly to me but anyway.

Well I don't know if it's passing judgment as much as it's just giving in to the hype. I'll admit that... the iPhone might be awesome, it might suck. Just like everything else before it comes out.

Personally, I just like talking about it... I'll never get one of these things.

of course there is the caveat that they havent been released, but the preliminary iphone specs have been released and they leave a lot to be desired. no 3G, no third party apps unless approved by apple, no GPS chip (doesnt look like you can connect one via bluetooth either), no SD card slot so you top out at only 8gigs, no user replaceable battery, no buttons=hard to play some games, no real corporate functions (view/edit office docs, support corporate email), 2MP camera is low considering the price and 3MP-5MP options on some other phones.

if the iphone were a mid-level phone those shortcomings wouldnt be bad. however, it is priced as a top of the line of phone. the released specs just dont measure up to the price.

Yeah but without a good OS, all that hardware junk is worthless. This is where Apple will excel over the competition.

Nice, Samsung makes quality electronics. I've had two Samsung phones and both have been really good to me. (Sent my first one through the washing machine and it still works)

:-?

gps...junk? works great for me.

honestly i think the OS is one of the biggest limitations of the iphone. its too restrictive. no third party apps are permitted. you can only put stuff on it that apple approves. third party apps are one of the biggest drivers of smart phone/pda sales. they drive innovation and loyalty. if windows mobile isnt your cup of tea you can customize it till your heart is content. if you want a new feature for a windows mobile phone/pda you can buy third party software or hardware. if you want a new feature for your iphone you have to buy a new phone. thats music to apple's ears, but not to mine.
