I agree with J35J that it was possibly the best single role played by an actor in a long time.

Better than Daniel Day-Lewis in Gangs of New York?! That wasn't too long ago, and that was phenomenal, better than his role in "There Will Be Blood" in my opinion...

Prior to seeing TDK, DD-L's playing of the butcher was my favorite single role, ever. But now that goes to Ledger's Joker. I still love the butcher, and that character was played amazingly, but Joker was just too good.

That's all votes, it's currently tied with a 9.1 for the best movie of all time for the top 250 list where only regular voters count. It will probably come down as well soon, but who knows.

Nope. It's #1 on the Top list that only counts regular voters. That is extremely impressive. I have never seen a movie move onto the list in a single weekend let alone a single night.

Ditto. I think she is cute. I don't know how so many people can say so many bad things about the way she looks.

If thats the case The Dark Knight is vastly overrrated, IMO. It's a good movie but its not amazing or anything. I think part of the reason why the movie felt Sooooo long to me was because there were no parts where you just went WOW, or were on the edge of your seat. It's good, just shouldn't be anywhere near #1 all time, IMO.

Well IMDB list isn't exactly the gold standard of movie judgement...

I loved it, Ledger was unbelievable, I agree with J35J that it was possibly the best single role played by an actor in a long time. It was definitely unforgettable. As for the rest, I do agree that it should have been broken up into this movie being focused on Joker and a sequel focused on Two-Face (Dent). I felt like the two-face part was rushed, but still I enjoyed it. Ledger really made the movie. Bale was great but not unbelievable, guys like Samuel Jackson/Eckhardt/Gyllenhall and the others all played their parts great, but Ledger was unbelievable. Anyway, I loved it and may very well see it again with a friend who hasn't seen it yet. ;-D

I must've missed Samuel Jackson's cameo. :-b

Wait til after the credits he is there to ask him to join the Super Friends.

It had been at 9.1 on that list earlier, must have moved up. Wow 9.5 now.

If I remember right Wall-E held the #1 spot on the top 250 list at IMDB with a score of 9.3 or 9.4 after it's opening weekend - though it looks like TDK has a lot more votes than Wall-E did at this point. It's at #22 now (which is still awfully impressive) but has been steadily falling the last few weeks.

It's logical that movies start high on the list then see their scores fall gradually over time. Those who are inclined to like the movie will see it first (i.e. fans of the Batman series/people who are generally excited to see it) and will naturally enjoy it for just that reason (they're already fans). Whereas casual moviegoers like myself will probably like the movie but won't rave about it like those who were pumped up to see it. The Heath Ledger performance/tragedy and rave reviews from the press are clearly pulling up the score as well.

Maybe I shouldn't be making comparisons between Wall-E and The Dark Knight since I've only seen one of them (Wall-E which I'd give an 8/10) but I'd be surprised if both don't continue to move down. Both will probably settle in around the middle 8's in the rankings. Good for a top 50 but not a top 10 or 25 position.

Who really cares though, I mean seriously does anyone here seriously think TDK is the greatest film ever created?
