Just watched Expelled, which I thought was a well put together documentary. I studied argumentation in college so it appealed to me to hear the various arguments for/against intelligent design. I don't know how much I agree with the film, but I didn't feel like it was trying to push a set of beliefs down my throat, which is more than I can say for the Michael Moore slop I watched a couple years ago.

I'd give it a 7.5/10 which is pretty good for a documentary.

I also saw 300 for the first time this weekend and it was one of the best movies that I have watched in awhile. I know it is a couple years old, but it was new to me.

9/10

Finally saw Juno - one I'd been wanting to see for a while.

The dialog was a little distracting and seemed unrealistic for the first 20-30 minutes - but then it toned itself down. That's really the only complaint I had with this one. Casting was well done. Excellent performance from Ellen Page. Funny throughout.

9/10

Today I saw Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I loved it, I'd give it a 8.5/10, great comedy. Very comparable to Superbad/Knocked Up/40-Year Old Virgin/etc. Very funny, two very hot girls, plenty of great scenes.

j24jags wrote:I saw 88 minutes tonight, I'd give it a 7.5 I've seen better, but it was entertaining. It is pretty intense at parts, but I felt it was a little slow developing in the beginning.

I agree with you on Forgetting Sarah Marshall, it was very funny, but 88 Minutes was absolutely terrible. I don't think I have ever seen such a bad Al Pacino movie. Even S1m0ne wasn't as bad as this one.

When I heard that it was released solely in Brazil over a year ago and was slated for straight to video until the writer's strike, I knew that couldn't be a good sign. :-D

Pacino hasn't made a good movie since Insomnia. (You can probably argue Merchant of Venice but...) He's been good in most of them but the movies themselves were pretty bad. I am holding out hope that Righteous Kill lives up to the billing but the people making it are the same that made 88 minutes.

I'm not an avid moviegoer but I do like martial arts films and Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the same feature film (The Forbidden Kingdom) was enough to get my lazy carcass off to the theater this weekend. Kind of a cheesy plot, given the fantasy elements of the storyline, but of course, I just watch it for the fight scenes. Obviously, not the kind of film you want to watch if you're a purist kung fu film fan with the CGI and wire fu effects, but it's fun: 7/10

Brazilians will watch anything Al Pacino. You put Al Pacino in Two Girls and a Cup, which at that point wouldn't be Two Girls and a Cup anymore, maybe Two Girls, a Cup and the Dude from Scarface, and I bet next time you talk to a Brazilian he'll tell you it's a great movie.
