Its all good , Manny or no Manny, I think they'll need all 6 starters with Kuo-Wolfe-Penny injury risks.

At least we're still after Hudson.

Honestly for 3/$47M I don't want him. :-t

I also don't want to touch Huddy with a ten foot pole. :-t :-o

I agree about that being too much to pay for him with his age. But I would much rather have Hudson than Lilly or other mediocre pitchers getting paid tons of money. Huddy's problem is giving up long fly balls so playing half his games at Safeco would help him out.

Yeah they are. I just don't understand what they're doing over there this year. Not one bit...

I really hope Sabean knows something about Schmidt's abilities that the rest of us don't. Otherwise, I don't see why committing a fairly modest dollar amount (by today's standards) for a staff ace and fan favorite was so undoable for the Giants that they would rather see him slip to a division rival.

I can only guess that Schmidt's largely ineffective pitching down the stretch last year looked too much like diminishing skills for Sabean's comfort. No doubt Schmidt is not nearly as lights out as he was in '03 and '04 though he can still post up that occasional dominant month.

I'm hesitant to say Schmidt isn't worth the money but still he has had some problems with his health although he is dominant when on.

agreed--throw in a little help from Tomko (if he'll start a bit or just go straight bully) and even DJ Houlton or other vegas help. You need lots of arms to get through a year.

His new home park will help hide his deteriorating skills but won't help hide his propensity towards injury.

This makes me wonder just what Zito will get. It's a little scary.
