Brian Cashman has just informed the media via conference call that Carl Pavano cracked two ribs in a car accident on Aug. 15 while in Florida on a rehab assignment. Pavano did not inform the organization until late Saturday night. That is in violation of his contract.

Cashman has said several times how "disappointed" and "frustrated" he is. Pavano apparently faces disciplinary action.

"Of course I'm angry," Cashman said.

It is time to void this guys contract if possible. It is just ridiculous. This guy just does not want to pitch. How can you get into an accident, break 2 ribs and think you should not report it to the team paying you 40 million dollars (minus 50k).

Rotoworld:
Carl Pavano was diagnosed with a pair of broken ribs, the result of a car accident earlier this month, but he's still scheduled to pitch for Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday and he could rejoin the Yankees next month.

Pavano has made three rehab starts since the injury, and there's little point in trying to wait for the ribs to heal now. He'll try to pitch through the problem, and if he can't, he'll get all of the rest he needs in the offseason. The Yankees are very upset that Pavano didn't reveal that he had been in an accident until the weekend. "Of course I'm angry," GM Brian Cashman said, adding that "it's extremely frustrating" and "it's extremely disappointing." Perhaps they'll look into voiding his contract in the offseason, though they'd need a lot of luck to pull that off.

Here's hoping that they can find a way to void this scrubs contract.

What? Carl Pavano is injured again? My God. How could anyone have ever seen this coming?

The Yankees should have to pay his full contract as punishment for giving such an injury-prone guy too much money.

Hmmm... why would you not tell people you were in a car accident? I see one of two reasons.

1.) Drunk/Drugs. Trying to keep it quiet.

2.) You think you can play through the pain. He's already had a tough go of it in the media (to say the least) and there's really nothing you can do for broken ribs. Maybe he thought he could just play through it to avoid more negative press or the ire of his organization.

Just wild speculation on my part.

Not bad assumptions.. but IMO their both pretty stupid..

For 2. does he really think he can play through that much pain without the organization/media finding out? I think he has to let them know either way. I mean I'm not too sure how much broken ribs hurt, but I assume that it's not too easy to hide from your team mates and eventually it would get out.
