I have lots of teams, but taking all of the teams' overall performances into consideration, here are my awards:
Most Valuable Player: Carlos Beltran. Without Beltran's production, two of my teams would not be a playoff contender. It was a neck-and-neck race between he and David Ortiz, who I have on two teams, one with Beltran on the same one, but Beltran won out because my winners league team would have been nowhere near contention if it relied on Derrek Lee all year.
Cy Young:Francisco Liriano. Carried one of my pitching staffs for a time, but it's in good hands with John Smoltz and company though.
Rookie of the Year:Hanley Ramirez. What a steal to nab him off FA from Day 1 in my roto league. Such a cheap source of steals while I dominated the power stats. It was a race between he, Liriano, and Verlander, but Hanley gets my nod.
Waiver Wire Pickup of the Year:Justin Morneau. Last year, it was Travis Hafner. This year, Justin Morneau. I picked Morneau up as a replacement UTIL player when someone else dumped him back when he was struggling mightily. I don't know what I was thinking at the time, but as Magic Johnson once said, "I pulled a Homer."
Biggest Draft Steal:Matt Holliday. Scott Kazmir, Jeremy Bonderman, Justin Verlander, Francisco Liriano. The usual suspects. I've had a mish mash of all in my drafts, but Holliday was underrated in my drafts and I pounced on that opportunity.
Biggest Disappointment:Mark Teixeira. The biggest bust of 2006. I drafted him on two teams, but I'm in first place on those teams. I got him for dirt cheap on two other teams (before the All-Star Break), but he hasn't been half-bad ever since. Nonetheless, a disappointment.
