Smoltz has setback

Postby jdh » Thu Sep 04, 2003 3:04 am

John Smoltz (P) ATL 9/3/2003
Smoltz (tendonitis in right elbow) experienced pain while throwing 50 pitches on Wednesday. "It'll be seven or eight days before we can make a decision," Smoltz told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "There's no rush, to be honest. I have nothing to gain by coming back too quickly. But at the same time, I want to be as sharp as I can possibly be [for the postseason]." It doesn't sound like Smoltz will return by the Sept. 16 date some suggested a few days ago. It looks like Smotlz owners will be lucky to get but a few saves before the end of the season

I guess owners shouldn't expect anything from him for the rest of the year.

More rest for the playoffs. I doubt he even pitches again until the last week of the season.
Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.
Yes doctor, there will be blood.....
