Torre Testifies at Trammell's Hearing
Nov. 11, 2003
NEW YORK (AP) Yankees manager Joe Torre testified Tuesday at the grievance hearing on Bubba Trammell's attempt to regain a large part of his $2.5 million salary.
Rob Manfred, executive vice president of labor relations in the commissioner's office, also testified, as did Yankees marketing vice president Deborah Tymon, equipment manager Rob Cucuzza and executive security official Joe Flannino.
Trammell was put on the restricted list June 30, with the Yankees saying the move was made because he left the team without permission due to unspecified personal reasons. New York then terminated the contract.
The union filed a grievance, claiming he was owed the remainder of his salary, which was about half the total. Trammell hit .200 with five RBIs in 55 at-bats this season.
Bubba shouldn't get chit. It was a stupid contract when the Padres signed him to it. Him and Hitchcock both. Towers sure has made some dumb decisions...
I won't get started .....
Sorry Bubba, I'm sure you will have a nice career teaching Little League in Tennesee. I hope you teach them not to quit.
