It's Official: Harden to Skip Start This Week

Postby d18Mike » Sun Aug 17, 2003 7:34 am

Associated Press: RHP Rich Harden's turn will be skipped, though Macha emphasized it had nothing to do with his poor outing on Friday night. The A's think the rookie has pitched a lot of innings already this season and wanted to give him some extra rest. ... Macha said Lilly has improved his performance over the past several starts in part because ``he eliminated his curveball and that's made him more consistent with what he throws.'' Lilly hasn't thrown the curve much because the release point is different than the rest of his repertoire. ``Sometimes you have to take a step back,'' Macha said. ``When I saw him in the minors he had a tremendous curve.''

in "real life" this probably makes sense for them to take it easy on his arm, but in fantasy it may be beneficial as well for his performance down the stretch if they occasionally push him back or skip him.

This news could change if Hudson has to sit a start.

Harden

Postby d18Mike » Mon Aug 18, 2003 2:06 am

No decision will be made on Hudson's ability to start until Tuesday, or so Macha says ... bad news for those of us who have to fix our rosters on Monday. I'm sitting Harden just to be safe. This time of the season I can't afford to risk a missed start.

Harden

Postby d18Mike » Wed Aug 20, 2003 7:36 am

As the headline on this thread reads ... Its official that Harden will miss his start, according to Macha.

But is it really ...

ALL of the wire services still show him starting on Thursday.

Has anyone heard the latest.
