One other thing on the Royals in general. I can't dig up the quote right now...can't remember exactly where I read it. But basically Dayton (the new GM for those that don't recognize the name) said that there would be no 'firesale' this year but that the team will be looking for 'value-for-value' trades involving their veteran players. Not sure what this means since Grudz, Sanders, et al don't have a hell of a lot of value to begin with...are they going to trade them for other mid-priced, mid-talent veterans? :-? In any case Dayton is saying that he wants to compete in 2007 so their vet's aren't going to be available for guys that won't be ready to contribute to KC winning in 2007. I'll be curious to see how he pulls that one off but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt considering his reasonably good pedigree.

In any case they weren't going to bring Gordon up before late in the year (must likely Sept.), this just gives him better development against more experienced pitching. Though I must say, what else does he have to prove in AA? He should be in AAA now or very soon since Teahen was promoted back to the majors.

plus we need to send some of our top prospect to Omaha to sell some tickets, take a look at their lineup. It's pathetic, Gotay is hitting 3rd(and hitting in the .240 range) while all the goodies(Lubanski, Gordon...) is in Wichita

I wasn't expecting anything more than a September look also, but I hope he will win the job in 2007 full time.
I like how LL compares his arc to Wright...hybrid had in his sig a comparison of Gordon's AA numbers to those of Teixiera...I really like Gordon more than Wood, and until Delmon get's his head on straight, he's my #1 minor leaguer.!/baseballcafe
