Sometimes you get the bear...

... and sometimes the bear gets you. I've been platooning Jay Payton all year, starting him when he plays at Coors. But even if you know a strategy works well in the long run, days like today make it tough. :-)

Oh well...

Ouch! I can relate. I was platooning Moises Alou and Tim Salmon for awhile. Guess who was on the bench when Alou hit 3 home runs? Yep, Alou. So the next day I bench Salmon and start Alou. What happened? Alou hit a home run, but Salmon hit 2 of them! I could have had 5 home runs, instead I only got 1. :-/ Oh well, there's always next time. ;-)

Thats what makes it so hard to bench guys like Green, Tejada and others who are struggling. You never know if one is about to break out of the funk they've been in and after being so patient with them all year.. if you were to miss their 1st break out week imagine how ticked you'd be. So we keep pluggin the Tejada's and Green's of the game out there, hoping that today could be their day. Thats why i like to say

Gotta love baseball! :-D

I know how you feel boss...I plugged in Eric Hinske over Bill Mueller in an AL only league...Mueller promptly gets 3R 3 HR and 9 RBI...and my stats get a 1 for 4... :-/

You are supposed to always start Jay Payton on days after he gets "Ripped Off" ... GEEEESH I thought everybody knew that. :-)

This is why I hate the platooning strategy in fantasy. Just play with what you have. If you are going to bench em, bench em. Sure I might take some heat for this, and it might take some strategy out of the fantasy, but hey it has worked for me for like three seasons now.
