Meche back to form?

Postby jebatzel » Sun Aug 03, 2003 5:53 pm

5 innings so far, 7ks, 4 hits, 3 walks

I just offered a trade to get rid of him and Teixeira for Carlos Zambrano

looks like win number 12 now.

I dumped him 2 weeks ago in the Harden grab.....I keep thinking his surgically repaired arm is going to fall off with all those innings this year. Now I'm having regrets.....he is gonna collapse, isn't he? :-/

I'm betting his arm falls off.

I don't think he's close to being back to his early season form. He only made it 5 innings, needed 116 pitches to throw 5 innings, which is horrible pitch economy and he was facing a White Sox team without Thomas, Konerko and Alomar in the lineup. He's still a big time sell high candidate. I expect him to wind up on the DL before the year is out.

Why would he end up on the DL? The season is already 2/3 over and he continues to be very impressive for 80-90 pitches most every time out. There's obviously nothing at all wrong with him. Like most guys, he wears down as the game progresses.

I don't see him being anything spectacular the rest of the way, but he's hardly useless. The owner who dealt him and Teixeira away for Carlos Zambrano made a bad deal, by the way.

Horrible offer. I agree with HAT, the demise of Meche has been greatly exaggerated.

Meche will continue to decline. Whip of 1.40 today, come on, he's done. Sell while you can.

I actually watched every pitch of this game. Meche's stuff was unhittable, particularly his breaking ball, but he was having a really hard time locating his fastball (it was high all day long)... so he got himself into jams... gave up a couple walks, but was able to pitch out of every jam... because the kid has great stuff... he was out in the 5th only because of the pitch count... he didn't find his rhythm until the third inning (threw well over 50 pitches in the first two)...

Bottom line... I think he looks fine out there... and, I think a lot of people who've been saying for a month "his arm is going to fall off" are going to eat their words... well, at least I hope... hehe...
