Maybe. Also notice how Matos plays great at home.

Matos's avg at home (at the time I'm posting): .382
home OPS: .958
Matos's avg on road: .278
road OPS: .740

Sometimes people make moves too quick. I play Matos everyday, and I hear people bitch about him being in a slump. He doesn't deliver like a top 20 OF for a week or two, and everyone wants to dump him. I really didn't even notice a slump.

Slump?

Postby d18Mike » Mon Aug 04, 2003 7:13 am

Slump? He's hitting .330. Did anyone expect him to hit .350 the entire year?

Water inevitably finds its level and he is finding his.

Pujols hitting .205 is a slump. Matos having a few .205 weeks after a couple .400+ weeks coming down to reality.

Recently heard a Scout comment on Matos during his AL Player of the Week surge. Consenus has Matos as a .280-.290 hitter with 25 HRs and 30 Steals over the course of a full season, perhaps considerably better at his peak.

That sounds about right ... sort of a Carlos Beltran-Lite. I'll take that.
