The Red Sox have, according to a radio station, aquired Jeff Suppan in a trade for Freddy Sanchez. The Red Sox will also be taking back Brandon Lyon.

1510 AM in Boston is reporting that Jeff Suppan and Brandon Lyon will be traded to the Red Sox for Freddy Sanchez.
The Red Sox would be taking back Lyon, whom the Pirates say is injured, and getting a starter to replace Ramiro Mendoza in the rotation. Sanchez would probably be brought up to the majors by the Pirates and made the regular second baseman.

They are probably just making that deal to end the Lyon injury saga. What it really means is that with a new starter added, Kim is cemented as the closer and Williamson has no value.

Suppan.... :-P :-P :-P

I hope this is a three way trade we don't know about yet, like to the Expos for Vazquez. Sigh... I don't think Suppan is the answer, folks. :-/

We carry only 7 pitchers and mine are Schilling, Halladay, K Brown, F Garcia, J Mesa, F Cordero, S Hasegawa. I have had MacDougal and Urbina earlier in year so am in 10th place out of 14 teams in saves but 9th in wins and 7th in K's. I don't think Suppan is a SO type of pitcher but should I drop Hasegawa and pick up Suppan or is B Penny a better option?

Blah ... Suppan is NOT the answer and Freddy Snachez is too much for him. I don't know what happened here, but it looks like they caved to the Pirates complaints about Brandon Lyon.
