With the Padres this year, Klesko hasn't started against left-handers with good-to-great stuff, and is hitting just .188 against LHP overall (Klesko has hit lefties much better in the past), so I don't see how his value would be affected.
The Yanks already have Giambi/Johnson at 1B, and Klesko's OF play was nothing to brag about at his best, many years ago. so I don't see this happening.

Posted: Thu Jul 31, 2003 3:24 pmESPN just reported that it won't happen. Think it was Gammons who said this, so take it for what it's worth. He said the Yankees will have no problem getting an outfielder after the deadline through waivers.
