Billy Beane is not my Lover

So much for the whole "avoid dealing with Beane" scenarios that were thrown around. Everyone was saying that fellow GMs were going to avoid going through Beane this season in retaliation for some of the things in Moneyball.

.. But, Billy pulled through, and ended up with a pretty good young player for what cost the A's nothing.

Actually I read this morning that one ML scout said that Oakland overpayed for Guillen because of Guillen being a free agent next season and apparently Joe Valentine has good stuff.

I don't really agree, but the scout knows better than me I would hope. I would think whatever team rescued Guillen from Cincinatti would have a decent shot at signing him, even with Oakland's limited budget.

I would think that Guillen wouldn't be too expensive. Before this year hadn't really done anything special. This season is so far beyond what he has done in the past.

Joes 23, and does have good stuff. In fact, he was thought to maybe someday replace Foulke. However, i like Oaklands move. You have a window of opportunity, and you have to take it. Stand Pat Gillick, and the Mariner brass, refuse to make a move. The window is closing.
