I think you are starting to see a change in baseball. More young players will be given oppurtunities much earlier than would have been imagined a few years ago.

Baseball has always been too slow to change. While the NFL and NBA take their early draft picks and turn them into marketable players, MLB historically sends it's top picks to 3-5 years of playing in obscurity before getting a sniff of the majors. If your body hasn't failed you at that point, or 5 years of playing in dumps like Toledo hasn't sapped your desire to live amybe you can actually start to make a little scratch.

With the spoiled beeyatches 90% of elite athelets are and the big signing dollars being handed out, teams are going to be less willing to wait 3 years to see their top pick in the majors. Success of guys like Prior, Ryan Wagner, even guys like Willis making the jump from AA ball will inspire more players to perform when they get called up, and management will become more willing to let it's young talent strut it's stuff.

It won't happen overnight, but a trend may be starting.
