Cincinnati's Secret?

Postby Guest » Tue Jul 22, 2003 5:30 am

Jul 21 Acevedo has been recalled from Triple-A Louisville by the Cincinnati Reds, replacing injured outfielder Austin Kearns on the roster. The righthander has gone 6-2 with a 3.43 ERA in 29 appearances, including three starts, with the minor league club this season.

July 21th, 2003. 7 IP, 2 hits, 2 ball on bases, 6 k's, a win.

Surprised no one has mentioned him yet. I have and now his sleeper status is gone.

not sure I would call him a sleeper. He has been up and down now for three years. His has good K potential but gives has a career 5.42 ERA and now he gets to pitch in an extreme Hitters Park on a horrible team. You can't keep coming back in the 8th every game. something had to give and it was that awfull pitching staff. He had a nice outing today and will be worth keeping an eye on but I would stay away.

Sorry, I thought this was a Ruben Mateo thread.

He's been hitting okay since the most recent call-up. If he ever puts it all together he could create another OF logjam in Cincy.

Mateo and Acevedo are both aweful. Please, please, please do not pick them up, or at least don't dump a decent player to pick them up.

I've seen both of them play in person and they're not good.

Hey, I'm a Reds fan but I still wouldn't have ANY of their pitchers on my team, at least not right now.

I thought this was going to be a thread about Reds players in a lingerie catalog, so thank goodness it's not.
