Morris and Anderson for Alou and Park?

Postby timkell » Sun Apr 21, 2002 12:35 am

hi all,

I'm in a 10 team MLB cbs sportsline head to head league. Scoring:
1B 1 point, 2B 2 points, 3B 3 points, HR 4 points
RBI 1 point, Run 1 point, Walk 1 point, SB 2 points

Win 10 points, Save 10 points, Complete Game 5 points
K 1 point, Walk -0.5 points, Inning Pitched 2 points
Hits Allowed -0.5 points, Earned Runs(ER) -1 point

Here's my team:
Catchers: Piazza, Pierzynski
1B: Klesko
2B: Kent, Giles
SS: A-Rod
3B: Pujols, Zeile, Blalock
OF: Dunn, Drew, Walker, Cameron
SP: Big Unit, Morris, El Duque, Sabathia, Penny, Beckett
RP: Nen, Gagne, Anderson

I got an offer to trade Matt Morris and Matt Anderson in return for Moises Alou and Chan Ho Park. I have two solid closers, as long as Gagne keeps his job. I'm concerned about Walker in my outfield but otherwise my team is pretty stacked.

What do you think of the deal?

Thanks all

I'd stay put, for a couple of reasons:

If you want insurance for Walker, you need someone dependable. Alou is almost as iffy as Walker himself.

Morris to Park is a huge downgrade. Your pitching is solid, but take Morris away and you're left with some holes. El Duque can be erratic, Sabathia can also be frustrating, and the young Marlins will lose some important wins due to an awful bullpen.

I can't bring myself to trust Park in Texas. Yes, he has talent, but playing in LA helped a lot.

This trade doesn't fill any pressing need for you, and you give up your second-best starter. I wouldn't touch this. If you're looking for an extra of, try seeing who you can pick up for Anderson.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too. It's just good to hear the same from someone else. Good advice on trying to get an outfield for Anderson. Thanks!
