METS! They look great early on, and they don't seem tobe slowing down, even with problems with Cliff and Beltran. Even if they do get mauled every 5th day when Zambrano pitches, come playoff time, you only really need 3 good starters, which they have-Pedro,Glavine,and Bannister looks good so far. The bench might be a little suspect, but is should get better as time goes on. And even if Anderson Hernandez has to play the whole year, his glove is a huge improvement over Kaz.
Yankees: A 10-spot for Unit against Toronto doesn't look too good, especially in a pitching staff where the only sure thing had been lots of runs against them. Hitting will have to come up huge again, which it should, but I don't see them making it too far with the pitching they have.
White Sox: They might have a good shot at repeating, expecially with Thome added to that line-up. However, Vazquez hasnt' looked too good, and that might come back to haunt them, especioally if they are that close with Cleveland.
Red Sox: Manny has been slow to start and Beckett is an injury away from having a long season on the DL, and he is critical for them. Papelbon has looked good, but he is a rookie, and he will have some rookie moments this year.
Cards: Age has finally caught up with Edmonds, and Sindney Ponson is not by any stretch og the imagination a capable replacement for Morris. Second base still might be a bit of a question mark, even though I like Luna.
Braves: Pitching has been their staple for 14 years, and it hasn't been there. Chipper and Rentaria hurt won't help, and the youngsters they have may be finally be coming back to reality. The 'pen isn't as good as it has been in past years, and Reitsma is a blown save waiting to happen.
