My opinion is that checking on a hunch is fair play. If your hunch was right, then go for it.
Doing full-out searches with the words from the question is kinda cheesy, IMHO. (That's exactly what I did for the WHO SAID IT #1 question, which is why I haven't spilled the beans on the identity of the Red Sox starting pitcher from the 70's
... hint, hint)
As for doing full-out research on some of the older questions in the forum, I, for one, am all in favor, although I don't write the rules.
