Strength and Weaknesses w/ this Squad

Postby MendozaLineup » Sun Apr 02, 2006 4:35 pm

11 Team, Rotisserie - Wanted to get any good opinions on this team (yeah, I know I shouldn't have drafted Benitez). Here it is w/ why I picked them/round:

C: M. Barrett (Last Round of Draft)

1B: J. Thome (Round 11 - value pick in deep position)

2B: R. Weeks (Round 8 - bought into hype)

SS: J. Reyes (Late Round 3 - for speed)

3B: E. Chavez (Round 6 - potential, but i feel shaky)

OF: J. Bay (Round 2 - all around potential stud)

OF: A. Huff (Round 10 - hoping for bounce-back)

OF: G. Jenkins (Round 16 - needed some power)

UT: J. Rollins (Round 4 - strange pick w/ Reyes but I like him)

BN: C. Granderson (Round 20 - potential pick)

BN: S. Rolen (Round 13 - potential steal, hoping bounceback)

SP: J. Santana (Round 1, pick 8 - best starter)

SP: C. Zambrano (Round 5 - workhorse, high Ks, etc.)

SP: J. Patterson (Round 9 - potential, but bad offense)

SP: J. Bonderman (Round 14 - hoping for breakout, but feel shaky)

SP: D. Cabrera (Round 18 - potential steal, I guess)

SP: O. Perez (Round 19 - would love 2004 form, but realistic)

RP: J. Nathan (Round 7 - my stud closer)

RP: D. Turnbow (Round 12 - could have had lackey, but wanted a reliable closer)

RP: A. Benitez (Round 15 - oops)

RP: M. Gonzalez (Round 17 - i like it for the round)

I've placed Benitez on the DL and have picked up Worrell for the time being. Thoughts on strengths/weaknesses? Escobar is floating on waivers, but I like depth of closers - and I feel they would be the only ones I'd drop....Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Id drop Worrell for Miceli/Rodney/Burgos is either one is available... also I'd drop Cabrera or Bonderman for Escobar.

If Willingham is available, Id probably take him over Barrett.

Agreed. Willingham would have been a better choice, but he actually went way early in my draft - I had been targeting him or the Seattle catcher as sleepers, but so did evidently the rest of my league.

I think both Bonderman and Cabrera will be snapped up if I try dropping them - but you're right, I think I will wait until after Escobar's start against the Yanks before I make a move...maybe I'll drop Worrell. Rodney is no longer available.

I wouldn't of picked Weeks that early, but besides from Benitez you got some quality closers at late picks (Gonzo should be HUGE this year)

try placing Benitez on the DL and take a chance on either Worrell or Rodney if available.

help me with mine please?

Your team looks great but I agree that Escobar is going to have a good year. I got lucky in my league and Willingham in 21 round.

I wouldn't drop Cabrera for Escobar. I like Cabrera and I am not as high on Escobar as other people are. Although I would probably drop Bonderman for him.

How did Reyes fall to the 3rd round?
