Steroid Investigation to be Announced Soon

MLB has appointed a former Senator to lead the investigation into steroid use by major leaguers. I hope this is truly an all inclusive investigation, but I can't help but think it will focus on Bonds more than the rest of baseball.

The fact that they're using a former Senator tells you everything. This is nothing more than a stunt to keep congress off MLB's back. Expect this so-called investigation to drag on forever, find no new evidence, and end up changing nothing.

Sweet, while he is investigating I wonder if he could find out why the MLB never did anything about all of these players or all of these players?

CBS Evening News interviewed former commissioner Fey Vincent and he said that 50% of all baseball players used roids in the 1990s.

If a former commish knows this...why does the current commish act like a :-X

It is all about the $$$$$ two sponsors said that they do not want anything to do with the HR record.

MLB is prolly scurred that people like Bill o' Riled up might call for a boycott on baseball or something...and start to hurt them a little more in the pockets.

Because the former commish is no longer getting $$$$$ from baseball.

Skeletor and his band of minions in the Commissioner's office will stoop as low as it takes to obfuscate and cover this up. The only reason any action was taken on the roids issue in the first place was because Congress threatened MLB's precious anti-trust exemption and threatened to drag everyone's name through the mud.

Selig has been in damage control mode ever since. If the man had any guts and the owners were serious about cleaning up roids (which they are not), they would have taken the action themselves and gone to war with the Union which would have been forced to choose to support the cheaters at everyone elses' expense or throw the frauds to the wolves. My guess is that when push came to shove and EVERYONE was losing big bucks, the cheaters would have been the first thrown off the lifeboat. We will never know as MLB has never had any guts amd the MLBPA is the king of the Unions in this country, never losing a battle.

ESPN is reporting that former U.S. Senate majority leader George Mitchell will be hired by MLB to head an investigation into past steroid use by major league players, most prominently Barry Bonds. Mitchell will not be the lead investigator, but he will head the investigation effort. Mar. 29 - 6:37 pm et.

---------------
Rent-an-ex-Senator Mitchell has led many quasi-governmental goose-chases where the hiring party wants to add an air of gravitas to their efforts. It will be interesting to watch this unfold. MLB clearly has an end-game in mind or they wouldn't have rented Mitchell as front man.
