What do you guys think about Ryan Doumit as a catcher? He was some kind of big name in the minors and when he came up, but I haven't been hearing much about him this year.

I think he's gonna be good..I'd be happy with taking him after Vic Mart, Varitek, and the like go.

I think he'll hit 22 hr's have 60 rbi's and bat 240

Not great but 22 hr's I think is a good number

Depends on how many AB's he gets...I'm still not so sure he's going to start 4/5 games although there's a good chance Cota becomes Perez's personal catcher.

If he hits 22 HR's, I'd love it. I think 15 is more realistic.

I wish Castillo would hit 2nd, but it's gonna be Jack to start the year. :-/ :,-( Castillo will probably be 7 and Doumit 8 because they want to keep Casey/Bay/Burnitz/Randa together in the order.

Why out a light hitting SS 2nd in the order? Makes no sense at all. And if the sandwished Doumit between Burnitz (I feel the wing form his free swinging already) and Randa (only average) he might actually get some pitches to hit. Also, why I got you here Mercer would you rather see McCutchen in the OF over Burnitz or Duffy?

My line-up for the Bucs would be:

Duffy
Randa
Bay
Casey
Burnitz
Castillo
Doumit
Wilson

And McCutcheon's not ready yet.

Doumit will get on base pretty well, but I don't think he will hit over 15 hrs.

McClutchen had a better spring than Duffy did. Maybe I'd like to see this lineup this year...

Duffy (if he can get on base)
Castillo
Bay
Burnitz
Casey
Doumit
Randa
Wilson

Right now I'd take McClouth in the OF over McCutcheon. I guess he's supposed to be pretty good too though, just not ready yet. ;-D

Seriously, Duffy might not even have the starting gig...he's hitting like crap in spring and was 0-5 today. I love his speed, but he can't use it if he's not on base. McClouth is tearing the cover off the ball, but will still probably go to AAA because of his defensive range. :-B

My lineup:
Duffy/McLouth - whoever's hitting better
Castillo - making good contact/stealing
Casey - all-around hitter
Bay - power source
Burnitz - another power guy
Randa - decent hitter
Doumit/Cota - lighter hitters still with pop
Wilson - .250 for 3 of 4 years, can't kill the team in the 8th spot.
Pitcher

Bingo. ;-D

(And this discussion should probably be in the Pirates forum at this point. It probably should be moved. ;-))
