4x4 roto league draft strategy....

Postby Seinfeld » Mon Mar 27, 2006 7:22 pm

I'm going to have a live draft at a CBS public league.
The league setting is 4x4 (BA, HR, RBI, SB, W, ERA, SV, WHIP), 10-team, roto.

This is the first time I attend a 4x4 league, so please help me about hte draft strategy.
In my opinion, I wanna draft hitters and closers in the beginning rounds because we don't count "K" as a category, is that an ideal idea?

Please give me some suggestions.....thanks

don't draft any SPs below mid-tier. grab one or two solid SPs and 3 or 4 MRs b/c they will have solid ratios and better W/IP than a mid-tier SP. load up on hitting early so that you can go cheap on the backup bats to have room for your MRs

No IP and no K's... that hurts all the SPs. Like above guy said I would go big bats early and often, then get two good closers. I wouldn't even care to look for a SP until near the 10th round. Then aim for guys like Scot Shields, Linebrink, Farnsworth, and those types of guys in the seond half of the draft. But I wouldn't worry about them much either because there will always be a few good RP with good ratios go undrafted most likely.

Pitching wise though I'd go for Saves, ERA, WHIP, and then let the wins fall where they fall. Would definitely go for the hitter over pitcher when you have a tough choice.

Oh and without the Runs stats the hitting probably favours big power bats.
