in an ESPN chat yesterday, BA said Hererra needs TJ surgery and will miss the season....

SFGate wrote:Briefly: According to assistant general manager David Forst, Javier Herrera, the team's top outfield prospect, will miss the entire season after tearing his right ulnar collateral ligament. The 20-year-old, who is known for his strong arm, will require elbow ligament-replacement surgery

Those of you in prospect drafts can cross him off your lists

lmao... It turns out that the guy who drafted Javier was doing so in a trade agreement with another owner in exchange for Jered Weaver.

What does this do to his long-term value? I picked him up last year and have since seen the steroid test and now this. How far does this drop him down the lists?

I didn't know about the steroid thing, but he's young and TJ surgery isn't usually as hard on non-pitchers, so I'd say it simply pushes his time table back a year.

As the tradee, I am unhappy to see the injury. But, the way I see it I at most lose a prospect this year. I gave up Jered Weaver for him, and I just don't trust pitching prospects. Sure, I might miss out on Felix. But I also miss out on Zack Greinke.
