Manny baits pitchers into throwing the pitch he wants, so, yeah.

Interesting, how so?

You know how smart pitchers set up hitters? Well Manny kind of does the same thing to pitchers. He works counts and intenially takes bad swings at certain pitches, by doing this he baits pitchers into throwing him a certain pitch. He then deposites this pitch into the bleachers.

If this is true, thats pretty sick ;-D I knew I liked him for a reason....

The stuff about Manny is almost spot on, I've also heard it from numerous other writers, announcers, etc.

People tend to carry the mindset that "Manny is an idiot/spaceball" over to while he's batting but it's the complete opposite. He's extremely sharp when it comes to hitting. It's a shame that his other antics take away from it but it is what it is.

Correction. He hit a HR off the second best pitcher in the Yankee rotation. And, against Sturtze, added a hard hit grounder into the OF for good measure, having only one K in 4 PAs.

I think it will be very tempting to make moves to get this guy more ABs. He looked just fine last night-- and Chacon wasn't having an off night.

Chacon played very decent he did mow down 6 batters. I see Pena being decent this year if your league doesn't deduct for k's then hs value raises a lot.

If Wilo Mo played full time, he could hit 40 homers in Fenway.

And drive in 110+.

But for that to happen, either Nixon needs to get moved or Pena needs to start taking some balls at 1B. Neither seem to be imminent right now.

Which is strange, because a young guy like Pena needs to be getting 500+ ABs so that his development won't be slowed.

I didn't understand this move by the Reds at all. They finally clear the space for Pena and Kearns to play full time, and now trade him to go with Hatteberg at first?

I understand the Sox doing it, they'll let Nixon go after this year.

Why can't the rest of the NL Central be as poorly run as the Reds?
