Can this team compete?

Postby sportsjerk » Thu Mar 16, 2006 2:16 pm

I just drafted in a 12 team 5x5 roto league. I had the 8th pick, and somehow, Vlad fell to me. I think I'm fairly solid, but I don't know for sure what I need to push me over the edge. Take a look and let me know what I need. The round I got them in is in parentheses.

C-B. Molina (14)
1B-L. Berkman (3)
2B-T. Iguchi (9)
3B-E. Chávez (7)
SS-J. Rollins (4)
OF-V. Guerrero (1)
OF-J. Damon (6)
OF-C. Crisp (11)
Util-J. Lane (16)
BN-J. Drew (18)
BN-B. Hall (19)
BN-D. Young (21)

SP-P. Martínez (2)
SP-B. Webb (8)
RP-B. Lidge (5)
RP-M. González (12)
P-C. Sabathia (10)
P-J. Bonderman (13)
P-J. Blanton (15)
BN-F. Liriano (17)
BN-Od. Pérez (20)

It's a good team, though I think you could find better than Dmitri Young without too much trouble. I guess Hall is nice for positional eligibility. Yeah, I can't find many problems with your starting lineup so I'm picking on your bench.

I worry a bit about your closers, Lidge has some reports of arm trouble and Gonzalez is unproven (though I'm counting on him too, so who am I to talk?) I'm not totally sold on Liriano, I think he'll have some of the typical rookie struggles and the Twins give such crappy run support, but he's pretty far down your rotation, so that might be nit-picking too.

Overall, you should definitely be battling for the league title, that's fantastic that Vlad fell to 8.

That's Delmon Young, I'm hoping maybe he gets a call up sooner than later.

Ohhhh. Well even so, I saw a thing today that his AAA numbers aren't that great. I mean tremendous potential down the line and all that, but I think there are better bets for this year, so unless you're in a keeper league, I don't think he's worth it.

I think its a pretty solid team.

Iguchi seems to be sucking it up this spring, so if hall ever finds a place to play in Mil he pay prove very useful. I'm a little worried about Gooch, especially cause I am a White Sox fan.

You seem a little light on HRs. Berkman scares me with power and the aforementioned Gooch issue could lower HR totals. Then again, Crisp could go for 25 in Cleveland, so what do I know.

But that's it. I would think, depending on how Damon does, he could be paired with somebody for another power hitter.

I echo...nice team. Should compete well

The one thing you need is a RP. Once you get that you should be verry solid. Also dont wry bout Spring Training for anyone other than ppl who have been hurt. it doesnt really matter. Overall pretty good team. Please rank mine in return. http://www.fantasybaseballcafe.com/foru ... dd157e31f5

I like your team pretty well. You could probably use another starter but it's pretty balanced. I like your offense.

Please help,
