Carpenter = Halladay???

Postby Little Johnny » Thu Mar 16, 2006 12:04 pm

Do you believe that Chris Carpenter and Roy Halladay are virtually equal heading into the 2006 season? As I have prepared my rankings, I have really had a difficult time deciding who is the better bet for this year. Carpenter plays on the better team and gets the slight advantage of going against opposing pitchers. Halladay is rested after last year's freak accident and could put together an outstanding season. Do you see one as being a better option than the other?

Thanks for any input! ;-D

I have Carpenter slightly higher as a safer option.

Halladay's also a potential (slight) dropper, whereas Carpenter isnt.

I would put Halladay above Carpenter, but not by much. The guy's got a better history of low era and whip than Carp does.

personally, i think halladay is the best "pitcher" in the game...

fantasy wise... i'd still take santana over him... maybe peavy...

but yes, def. over carp.

random thought here...

didn't the tor. rotation at one point look like this...

they seem to umm know what they're doing, huh? makes me believe a tad more in mcgowan now... like just give him some more time to shake off his first mlb go-around...

what are you all's thoughts?

Definitely Halladay for me. Carpenter is one of those players I won't be draft ing this year because he will be long gone before the time I would consider drafting him.

Not that Carpenter can't have a great season, but he hasn't done it consistently. He was a great play in 2005, and probably helped more than hurt in 2004. His six years in Toronto weren't so stellar. Not convinced he can put another huge season together in 2006.

He's a Woody Williams candidate (had a couple nice seasons as a Card before reverting back to form).
