I doubt I would do this in such a small league, but to each his own I guess.

Except that, that was exactly what he was able to do. Besides there are a decent amount of stud setup men (timlin, fransworth, linebrink to name just a few).

I didn't realize it was just an 8 team league. You can pretty much have a stud at every position there.

With only 3 RP slots and no general P slots I don't see your strategy as a bad one. If you go with a split you're going to either have 2 CL/1 MR or 1 CL/2 MR...either way you're likely to get pounded by teams that have 1 or 2 more at the spot you didn't focus on using. At least with your strategy you're pretty much guaranteed holds, the peripherals are helped more by those guys than by a lower tiered closer and you didn't have to pay/draft as high for them.
