Power Hitters - Help Needed Please

Postby FantasyStud » Mon Mar 13, 2006 12:56 pm

Bench - Erik Bedard, Aaron Heilman

12 team league, head to head stlye, just drafted last night

Roster Positions: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, Util, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL

Stat Categories: R, HR, RBI, SB, TB, AVG, OBP, W, L, SV, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP

Here's my draft order.

1. (7) C. Crawford
2. (18) C. Utley
3. (31) V. Martínez
4. (42) D. Jeter
5. (55) D. Willis
6. (66) B. Ryan
7. (79) K. Griffey Jr.
8. (90) H. Blalock
9. (103) J. Edmonds
10. (114) B. Myers
11. (127) T. Hudson
12. (138) T. Gordon
13. (151) M. Lowell
14. (162) J. Morneau
15. (175) J. Gathright
16. (186) J. Dye
17. (199) S. Linebrink
18. (210) R. Sanders
19. (223) D. Cabrera
20. (234) E. Bedard
21. (247) A. Heilman
22. (258) C. Barmes

I realize that my primary concern should be added power hitters. I am looking at guys like Troy Glaus / Jason Giambi, thinking that of all the power hitters available it would not THAT much to get them (as compared to a Pujols / Lee for example). Who should I try to package together in order to land a player of similar caliber to Glaus or Giambi?

Thanks

You have pretty good hitting depth. If you wanted, you could trade Morneau straight up for Giambi, if you really want the power. Maybe if you're lucky you could swing Morneau/Dye for someone like Delgado.

I would pray for a healthy year for Griffey and Edmonds. Your team looks average to good in all areas but not great in any.

I offered Morneau for Giambi yesterday and I was told "are you nuts?"

I am working on a deal with Delgado, or possibly trying to add Podsednik and then trying to trade Crawford for power.

i would try to see if wilkerson is available...he can supply power in that ballpark...if not, i would stand pat until the season starts as i think morneau will be a pleasant surprise...then see who's playing great and trade him for another player....reggie sanders?...you have too many OFs...but if you dig OFs, try curtis granderson, a five-tool sleeper...gl

rate mine

the guy that has wilkerson is obsessed with making trades with like 100 players involved, so that wouldn't work. hes too hard to deal with.

i tried dealing with delgado, but nothing worked out.

any other suggestions?

I would trade Griffey and/or Edmonds for the power hitters you're looking for; they still have good value and you should trade them away before they get banged up again.

Yeah, see if you can convince people to take Edmonds and Griffery for safer hitters with similar stats.
