Keeper roster 10x10 (cuts/trades)

Postby valnas » Thu Mar 02, 2006 6:14 am

Due to some injuries at the end of last season (we do full keepers) I have to cut 3 players from my team. I also need to think about trading some of my offensive talent for a starter. Based on my Roster I'd like some suggestins for these cuts, as well as who to deal. Rolen and Abreu are the most probable for dealing with mcpherson and granderson on my bench. Only problem is Rolen won't fetch great value off his injury.

Thanks in advance for anyone who comments, link your posts and i'll toss in my advice. My history in this league dates back to 2002, where I won 3 years running (02-04), before falling apart last year and finishing 8th due to pitching breakdowns and offensive injuries to rolen, bagwell, and Helton. Throw in Randy Wolf's arm, and i threw in the towel and dealt sabathia , z duke, and buerlhe for abreu and bay. All avid owners in the league who love to make deals and watch the wires for rookies.

This post might be better addressed in the Keeper, Draft and Trade Advice forum, but I'll take a shot. Your offense looks awesome. 20 teams and you have Utley, Abreu, Bay, and Tejada. All guys who will be drafted in the first round or second round in nonkeeper drafts this year. You have good balance throughout the lineup. Speed will be there thanks to Abreu and Bay and power is there throughout. If you don't think that Rolen will go for anything of decent value right now, I'd sit on him. I expect a nice bounce back season. Wait until he has some value and someone needs help at 3B later in the season and get something then. SP is full of high risk/high reward guys. I like Cain and Escobar this year. Young should be a nice surpirse in Petco this year. Seo was solid last year in Shea and he's in another great pitchers park this year. RP looks solid. Definitely some guys there that you might consider trading. I like Santana on the bench. Another high reward type guy. Your pitching is pretty deep. You might consider dealing some guys there. I think you could definitely use an ace for this season. You have some solid OF that you could probably use as trade bait as well as RP. In a 20 team league, you have a huge number of closers.
