You know what they say about assumptions? I don't believe Brokeback Mountain deserved a nomination for Best Picture and I agree that it was overhyped due to being a "gay" movie. I did think Jake deserved to be nominated for BSA despite that and I think Matt Dillon was very deserving for his nod for Crash.

Indeed. There are much better love stories out there than Brokeback Mountain. What I liked about BM is that as soon as I realized what the movie was about (the tent scene) I had a strong bias against the movie but it was able to win me over due to the character development. Love or hate what they do it's tough not to feel "something" for the two main characters.
