With all this talk about how dominating Willis has been the past few weeks many people have forgotten about Webb. What are your thoughts on this matchup? Is he destined to pitch a gem or doomed to get knocked out early. Yes I know this is the Tigers but anyone think he is due for a horrible game?

I went to the game last night, our sad Tigers didn't do much against the lowly Patterson with his 7.09 ERA. It was actually tied though until the 7th when German (and in 9th - Spurling) came in and made a mess of things.

I'll start Webb in each league that I have him, guessing 7 IP, 3 or 4 hits, 2 walks <edit: 1 ER> and 8 K's.

If you bench any pitcher on your team against Detroit then you should do yourself a favor and cut him.

Anyway I'm guessing 7 innings, 5 hits, 1 walk, 0 er, 6 k's, and a win.

This should be able to convince you to start him.
Can the 2003 Detroit Tigers take the 1962 New York Mets off the hook as
baseball's worst team of the modern era?

Here were the numbers for the awful 1962 Mets, who at least had an
excuse (they were an expansion team loaded with over-the-hill players):
40-120 record (.250).
NL-low .240 team batting average and outscored 948 to 617 (minus 331).
5.04 ERA.
NL-most 210 errors and NL-worst .967 fielding percentage.

The current Tigers appear to have all it takes (or lacks) to match
those Mets, they are on pace for 39-123.

You have to start anybody you have against The Tiggers....This team is on pace to have three 20 game losers... 8-o Maroth, Bonderman and Bernero all have a chance.

I'm a lifelong Tigers fan and a Brandon Webb owner. Trust me, I couldn't put him in the starting lineup quick enough!

BTW, Andrew Good has had a decent year as a young pitcher. He went to high school in the Detroit area.

It hurts to see a team lose almost every second game....But Brandon Webb is going to kick their asses!

My prediction: 7.0 2ER 8K

I've had Webb benched his past 3 starts. Though he has pitched well enough, he has not brought home the sometimes elusive W.

The guy has yet to deliver anything other than a 'quality start'. You people who want to throw out the W stat, take a look at your league's new fantasy god, Brandon Webb.

He's finally back in my rotation, so you can all relax and count that W. B-)

He can't bring in the win but he still pitches quite well. You should criticize the D'Backs hitters not Webb.

I did not criticize Webb. I didn't start him because the match-ups his last 3 starts did not dictate a 'W' would ensue, which is the most crucial stat for me at the moment.

I've owned Webb longer than most, and I held him thru the DL experience. He has one of the best sinkers in the game.
