Vicente Padilla vs Ryan Frankin - who would you stick with?

Postby PadillaFranklin » Fri Jun 27, 2003 4:35 pm

Who do you think is the better pitcher for the rest of the season? Franklin has pitched well, but gives up the occasional HR. Padilla was doing poorly at the beginning of the year, but has picked up his game in his last 3 starts. Still not sure I trust him though. Who would you stick with?

Padilla. He's got better stuff than Franklin.

I'm gonna say Franklin. Better team, better park, and he's been solid all year. He has some of the worst run support of any pitcher, which is odd b/c the rest of the M's staff have great run support. But he should have a couple more W's than he currently does.

Padilla. He has excellent stuff and seems to have turned it around lately, shutting down the Braves two straight starts. One thing that's strange about him is that he has a 1.48 ERA in three starts against the Braves and a 4.48 ERA against the rest of the league. It doesn't make alot of sense that he pitches his best against the best offensive team in the league.

I think Franklin is pitching a bit over his head right now as far as ERA and WHIP go and will likely have some dropoff second half. Padilla is more likely to improve.
