Any sleeper HR guys emerging in the 2nd half?

Postby msaint » Fri Jun 27, 2003 1:01 pm

I need HRs, and our FA pool is pretty shallow. Leaving aside some of the obvious guys who could bust out with the power in the 2nd half (M.Cabrera now that he's up, Teixeira now that he's starting fulltime, etc. etc.), is there anyone on a major league bench and/or in the minors who could get more playing time rest of way -- whether it be due to a callup, trade, lineup change, whatever -- and make an impact in the HR department?

Thanks.

with hinske coming off the DL, you could pick him up. He could probably hit 15-20 dingers.

Pick up Ichiro. He gained 32 pounds during this offseason and he went 2 ounces heavier with his bat and he said he was looking to hit more homeruns but maintain a high average. He said his goal for this year is to hit almost 25 homeruns. If your league's Ichiro owner doesn't know what Ichiro is looking to bring to the table, get him!
The odds of the AL MVP coming from the American League are looking pretty good.

not sure if that was sarcastic or not, but I've heard that he launches a lot of balls in BP.

As sad as it might sound, I have been hearing alot of good things about Detroit's Munson. His average will hurt but if all you are looking for is power, he might help out. Don't count on Burrell.

How about Davanon.... with Fulmer down, he should be back in the lineup regularly, and his power numbers looked ok.
