I don't know why Kendry Morales is not mentioned more on sportswriters and fantasy guru's top prospects for 2006.
Let's assume he is 22 years old.
Upon never playing any minor league ball, he stepped in and crushed A ball pitching. It took him a bit to adjust at AA but he just flat out raked and tore it up for both power and average once he adjusted and finished at .306 & 17 in 280 ABs.
He didn't draw many walks, but I think he worked on that well in the AFL, where he didn't hit so much for power, but drew more walks. he cut down on his k's and hit .380 with a .444 obp. That plate discipline improvement showed me that he's more than just a potential 30 homer guy, but can also be a .300 hitter at the highest level. Granted, it's the AFL, and call me crazy, but I'm more excited to see that .380, .444 with 2 homers line than teammate brandon wood's .307, .375, 14 homers line.
I'm gonna predict Morales will be the Angels everyday 1B or DH before the season is through.
